F.G.Brown was established in 1976. We are an Independent Optician with 3 Optometrists and a Dispensing Optician. We have a spacious premises with air conditioning and good access.We have a car park at the rear.
As an Independent Optician we can offer a more personalised eyecare service that all the family can trust. We are committed to providing the highest standard of eyecare and continually invest in new technology to offer a more advanced eye examination. One example of this is the Optomap retinal exam, which allows the optometrist to gain a wider view of the back of the retina and it gives us a permanent digital record for future comparison. We also offer a Topcon OCT Exam. We offer a large range of frames, with over 1000 in stock. Brands including Silhouette,Nike,Radley,Superdry and Calvin Klein to name a few. We offer many different types of spectacles and we are an accredited Varilux lens specialist centre.
We provide Contact lens exams and supply many types of Contact lenses.We offer colorimetry to supply coloured overlays or spectacle lenses for cases of visual stress associated with dyslexia or reading difficulties.We are an Oakley stockist and can provide sports specs,sunglasses and glasses for hobbies and D.I.Y.We also can arrange Home visits and Hearing tests. This is the first time I have used FG Browns. I found them very helpful and polite. The optician Miss Parmar was very good and explained everything, after my test I decided to have the image pictures done to see further into the back of my eyes, and Miss Parmar did detect a problem, which she explained to me really well, and asked me to go back into the surgery as she wanted to take a look herself using drops, yet again she explained this problem in good detail, and another follow up appointment has been made for 3 months, so I feel they really do look after you. Nicola was the lady who helped me pick my glasses , yet again she was also very helpful, and so was the gentleman who done the measurements. I definitely look forward to returning, and would highly recommend FG Browns to everyone

I recently experienced a sudden increase in the number and intensity of floaters in my left eye. This was fairly quickly followed by a flashing light in the eye. I phoned the practice mid morning last Friday and they arranged for me to see Ms Parmar that lunchtime. It was confirmed that I had a torn retina and whilst I was there she arranged for me to be seen at Ipswich Hospital that afternoon. More tests etc and later that afternoon I received the laser treatment to stop the tear getting worse. Wonderful, efficient, and caring service from all the people involved. From the lady that initially answered the phone, the assistants who did drops and the basic tests through to Ms Parmar who phoned the hospital. Thank you so much!

First visit today after using high street opticians. I must say that I was very impressed by the amount of time, care and professionalism devoted to me, especially as I recently suffered a double retinal tear. This independent optometrist has all of the necessary state of the art equipment and I can wholeheartedly recommend them.
